OLR School: praise from Bexley Council

The following is from a letter received by Our Lady of the Rosary School from Bexley Councillors following their recent Ofsted report:
“We have read the very good inspection report for the school published on the Ofsted website and wanted to express both our appreciation and congratulations to you and your staff for achieving such a positive accolade of your work. The opening quote of “The school is committed to the welfare, happiness and education of the children” by parents and pupils of the school represents a succinct statement that validates the high level of esteem with which the school is held. That pupils were found to be confident, were very well behaved and eager to learn, work hard and make good progress are all attributes of a highly successful school and characteristics of which you should be very proud.”
Congratulations to the Headteacher, Mr Murphy, to all the staff, pupils and parents of the school.

Missa Cantata - 1 March

Every week at Blackfen, our Mass on Saturday morning at 10.30am is celebrated in the extraordinary form of the Roman Rite (Traditional Latin Mass). On the first Saturday of each month, a small Schola of men kindly comes to us so that the Mass can be a sung Mass with the chants from the Roman Gradual.

The next occasion will be this coming Saturday, 1 March.

(Fr Robinson will be available to hear Confessions during the Mass from 11am to 12noon.)

Aylesford Men's Retreat

Today, a group of men from the parish spent a Day of Recollection at Aylesford. After beginning with Holy Mass in the Cloister Chapel, Fr Finigan gave a meditation on the first three sorrows of Mary. The Friars provided a wholesome lunch in the Pilgrims Hall, after which the men were guided in a meditation onthe last four sorrows of Mary. The day concluded with Benediction in the Choir Chapel and a short tour of the relic chapel and the chapels to the English Martyrs and the Carmelite saints.

NB - any family can visit Aylesford Priory, for example, on a Sunday afternoon. The chapels, the tea room and the excellent bookshop are open to visitors.
