UCM Coffee morning

This wonderful array of home made cakes was prepared by the Union of Catholic Mothers for their fundraising coffee morning today. The UCM are currently raising money to make a contribution for the new stained glass window at the Shrine of Walsingham.

Stations of the Cross during Lent

During Lent, there will be Stations of the Cross every Friday at 7.30pm in the Church. A Plenary Indulgence may be gained under the usual conditions.

Ash Wednesday

Masses on Ash Wednesday will be at 9.30am, 4.15pm and 8pm. Ashes will be blessed and distributed at all Masses.

Ash Wednesday is a day of fasting and abstinence. We are bound to abstain from meat and to fast in accord with our state in life. We are allowed to take one full meal and two snacks if necessary but not to eat apart from this. Many able-bodied Catholics could do more.

Parish Retreat

Fr Finigan will lead a residential Parish Retreat during Lent at Aylesford Priory. The retreat starts with tea at 4pm on Tuesday 27 March and concludes after lunch on Thursday 29 March. The programme includes talks, daily Mass, opportunities for private prayer and Confession, as well as time to relax in the beautiful surroundings of Aylesford Priory. We will also join the Friars’ Community for the Rosary and Evening Prayer on the Wednesday evening.

The cost of the retreat is £95 (this includes all meals and afternoon tea). There are booking forms at the back of the Church or you can download a booking form (pdf).

UPDATE: Aylesford need to know our numbers for the Retreat. If you intend to come, please let us know by Sunday 25 February. (If you miss that deadline, you can still ask about booking.)

Elizabeth Sheehan RIP

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Elizabeth Sheehan who died recently.

May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

The body will be brought to Church on Mon 26 Feb at 4.30pm. The Requiem Mass will be at 10.30am on Tue 27 Feb, followed by committal at Eltham Crematorium.

Ena Connolly RIP

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Ena Connolly who died recently.

May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

The body will brought to Church on Thursday 15 February at 4pm. The Requiem Mass will be at 11am on Friday 16 February at Our Lady of the Rosary, Blackfen, followed by burial at Sidcup Cemetery.

Baptism of Max Gawor

Congratulations to Maximilian Oliver Gawor who was baptised on Sunday at Our Lady of the Rosary.
